ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 investigates teaching procedures in the EMI classroom. EMI lecturers often need to change their teaching procedures and employ a range of pedagogical and linguistic compensatory strategies to meet the demands of the complex multilingual and multicultural classroom environments shaped by the increase in EMI in their departments. The chapter provides an insight into how the lecturers in their day-to-day practices find ways of dealing with the changing demand, outlining new pedagogical approaches that may suit the demands of academic studies in the context of parallel language use in the internationalized universities of today and tomorrow.
