ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 begins with a recap of the EMI research covered in the book and discusses the general pedagogical and language policy implications of findings across educational systems – particularly at the personal level of the individual lecturer. From the findings, the authors expand upon four themes, namely, context (institutional and disciplinary), norms (pedagogical and linguistic), agency, and affective issues. Using the Centre for Internationalisation and Parallel Language Use at the University of Copenhagen as an example, the chapter concludes with a discussion of the importance of establishing research centers that can work cooperatively to monitor and support development of EMI in higher education.
