ABSTRACT

Groups are the arena par excellence for the unfolding of the unconscious. It does not take long for strong feelings to develop between group members, as well as strong projections. It is also not uncommon to become subject to hostility or to be taken over by an inexplicable and irrational force of attraction to another member of the group. The nature of sexual attraction is also paradoxically connected with loss, the desire to lose oneself in another, to heal one’s wounds through containment, understanding, connection and no longer having to be separate. In this short story, the focus is on loss, and how it can be the motivating factor in creativity and a sense of a profound connection with another.
