ABSTRACT

LBMS was established in 1977 by a breakaway from BIS Applied Systems. While development of Systems Engineer was under way, LBMS identified another major trend in the marketplace, namely Integrated computer aided systems engineering or I-omputer aided systems engineering (I-CASE). LBMS refers to Systems Engineer as a groupware product. This concept can be summed up by the words ‘cartoons to code’. LBMS’ approach to code generation is to supply two ways for users to meet their needs - SE/Construction and SE/graphical user interface - plus an interface to other products - SE/OPEN. At the time of writing, LBMS have stated that the REVENG technology is being actively phased out, in favour of a future standardisation around the multi-user Systems Engineer platform. Project Engineer is positioned by LBMS as a close companion for Microsoft Project for Windows. LBMS has CASE partnerships with both ICL and UNiSYS, with whom it is involved as a third party in the Integrated Information Environment Architecture.
