ABSTRACT

In this Introduction readers are provided with context that explains and informs the editor’s approach to technology and young children and how he went about identifying thought leaders to contribute the essays and the organization of this book. The process of “crowdsourcing” authors and topics is described and what the authors were invited to write about and contribute is identified. Seymour Papert’s belief about “powerful ideas” is introduced and a fictional children’s media roundtable conversation is shared to introduce each of the contributing authors through quotes from their essays. Finally, how the book is organized and unique features for the readers are described.
