ABSTRACT

Chapter 10 summarizes the findings of the study and their relevance for academics, policy-makers, practitioners, and incarcerated men and women. Key insights include discussions about the root cause of violence, the ability to achieve positive transformations in prison, the features of the desistance narrative, and the role of historical oppression and social marginalization in the explanation of desistance from crime. The chapter offers reflections for future research and systemic change, and concludes with a call for reformed prisons.
