ABSTRACT
The present chapter examines conclusions regarding the perceived workload of vigilance in light of research conducted since Warm, Dember, and Hancock (1996) published their seminal paper on the topic. In addition, the theoretical and practical implications of workload in vigilance are discussed. As most studies investigating the workload of vigilance have used the NASA Task Load Index, we restrict our attention here to studies that employed this measure of perceived workload.
