ABSTRACT
This chapter returns to images, of monsters and demons, interpreted as creatures of the flux, filling emptiness. After a short review of the literature on monster or composite beings, the chapter discusses a poem by Emily Dickinson on emptiness, and then some strange images in the choir of a monastery in Najera, Northern Spain, designed under the support of the Borgia pope Alexander VI.
