ABSTRACT

The purpose of Dynix, Incorporated is to develop, market, and support innovative computer software for libraries. This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book introduces the Dynix system, corporate organization, client services, and our unique commitment to libraries. Dynix is organized into three divisions: Finance/Administration; Operations/Support/Development; Sales and Marketing. Dynix provides resource and consulting services, system planning, installation and training, expansion and interfaces, and continued system maintenance to its libraries. The Dynix system successfully operates in public, academic, legal and other special libraries. For the first time, libraries of every size can automate with features traditionally available only to the largest institutions. Dynix works closely with its customers in installing, training, and providing continued maintenance and ongoing support. Constant attention is focused on ways to improve and enhance the system. Dynix is firmly committed to providing the most complete, reliable, cost-effective and user-friendly library system available.
