ABSTRACT

The module discussed in this chapter is basically designed to administer a special reserve collection within, usually, an educational library. The administration consists of collection of items from source; entry of background reserve record, including details of circulation parameters, withdrawal date and instructions, name of academic who placed item in collection, and relevant course or courses; compilation of reports and notices; general system administration;withdrawal of item at the end of its life-span. When an academic wants to place an item in a special collection any of the following may apply: the actual library book may be handed over;a personal copy may be produced;a scribbled note to a compiled list may be presented;a verbal request. The chapter details step by step the standard procedures for placing an item on reserve and the details held in the background reserve record. The option that should be taken from the main menu is MRES the Reserve Menu.
