ABSTRACT

Electra is an extract from a larger performance project developed by Craig San Roque. Based upon the Oresteia, it is a meditation on crime, transgenerational trauma, conflicts, and resolutions in customary law, past and present. It is psychologically and culturally sited in both the ancient Athens of Aeschylus and the Alice Springs of contemporary Central Australia, wherein conflicts in the governance of people by Australian law and by Indigenous customary practices are in an agitated state. The work is based on the author’s experience within Australian intercultural conflict resolution.
