ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the major findings of the study and compares the results with relevant published literature. The high agreement responses to the majority of the Student-Centred Learning and Teaching Attitude Questionnaire (SAQ) statements gives verification to student-centred learning and teaching as an overtly dominant ‘official’ educational philosophy in pre-registration nurse education in England. The SAQ also gives evidence of positive attitudes regarding andragogical tenets. Significant results were obtained in the SAQ survey regarding independent context variables of class and cohort size. Identification of key concepts of student-centreness was an intention of the factor analysis of the SAQ data. A potential ethical dilemma was whether or not to reveal that institutions had a low or high SAQ scores. Identification of key concepts of student-centreness was an intention of the factor analysis of the SAQ data. Comparisons between the descriptive statistical analysis section of the SAQ data and the factor analysis gives interesting findings.
