ABSTRACT

Thailand is a country of approximately 60 million people and is located in South East Asia. Until the Asian financial crisis, it had enjoyed a rapidly developing and increasingly diversified economy. Modern Thailand’s legal system dates from the reign of King Rama V and involved the adoption of the Romano-Germanic legal system with further adaptations in the form of localized codes which have drawn from a variety of legal sources, including Japan, Germany and the United States. A new constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand was approved in October of 1997. The ministry exercising the general charge of company activities is the Ministry of Finance, which also supervises Thailand’s central bank, the Bank of Thailand. The new constitution establishes the National Economic and Social Advisory council to provide consultation and advice to cabinet members on economic and social development and other related plans.
