ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the author examines some of the major historical works after which he briefly goes through the most important research works within two areas which are closely related to his topic, that is, Estonia’s economic transition and the nationality problems in Estonia. The author looks at the publications where attempts to establish a direct link between privatization and nationality problems in Estonia have been made. Economic literature can be divided into several groups, according to whether they deal with economic transition generally in Eastern Europe, or more specifically with economic transition in Estonia, or even more specifically with privatization in Estonia. The author discusses the possibilities of application of the sources with respect to his investigations. He presents some of the practical difficulties which have been connected with procuring the sources.
