ABSTRACT
The primary basis for the bibliography is the directory collection of the Royal Library in Copenhagen. This provided a good coverage of town directories especially for the larger settlements. Some gaps do exist particularly for the smaller towns in the twentieth century. The absence of such directories is quite puzzling but explanation may relate to the spatial remit of the Krak Vejviser discussed. The reader is also directed to the collection of directories housed at the Staatsbibliotek Aarhus which proved impossible to include in this bibliography due to a major reorganisation of the library at the time of the compilation. The library collections of the major university libraries were also consulted in the compilation of this bibliography with variable results.
