ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author offers an analysis the various mindsets of adolescents who struggle with inhibitive and impulsive-style eating disorders. The adolescent’s contact configuration style is identified as a significant contributor to the development of a particular eating disorder. The disordered relationships to food and to the body are perceived as a creative adjustment to unsupported dimensions within the adolescent’s lifespace. Rich case studies cultivate further insight and consideration into the therapeutics specific to these clinical presentations for the reader.
