ABSTRACT
This chapter speaks about the attempt to overthrow the Duke Valentino by his lieutenants (Vitellozzo Vitelli, Oliverotto da Fermo, etc.) and about the revenge of the Duke. This is a famous historical episode, of which Machiavelli was a direct witness and thanks to which he had an important cause for reflection on the relationship between good fortune and virtue.
