ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at the role of the producers department and its various positions, including the line producer, executive producers, and associate and co-producers. Basic concepts of collaboration are explored, as well as general points of view that both sides bring to the table. There are two interviews in this section, with producer Tim Perell (Shortbus and World’s Greatest Dad) and line producer Becky Glupczynski (Maria Full of Grace). The director–producer relationship between Ron Howard and Brian Grazer is looked at as an example of a particularly strong collaboration, and a list of tasks is provided for the director to use as a guide for their collaboration.
