ABSTRACT
Electricity is measured in terms of potential. Potential can be thought of as “pressure.” Electricity flows from a source of high potential to low potential. Power for film and video production usually comes from one of three sources: stage service, generators, and tie-ins. Paralleling putt-putt generators means connecting two generators together to provide double the power output. In planning and executing a power distribution system, have two jobs: to determine the amount of electricity needed and to order cable and connectors of the correct size to carry the load and get the power. Feeder cable runs from the power source to the distribution boxes. Electricity always wants to find a path to the ground. In a ground fault, electricity has found a path to ground, but it is a path the electricity was never intended to be on, such as through a person’s body.
