A similar cognitive bias to the “natural talent effect” is the “halo effect”. This is where people are influenced by someone’s initial positive performance when they come to assess their second piece of work. One such study found that teachers who graded a student’s first piece assignment highly were more likely to give them a better grade on their second unrelated piece of work.
