ABSTRACT
One of the first reported studies in this area, in the 1970s, had students report on what they were focusing on every time their teacher rang a bell. Amazingly, students reported not focusing on the task at hand in lessons for the same amount of time as the students in this study over forty years later. Both sets of students reported focusing on something that wasn’t to do with the lesson 33% of the time.
