ABSTRACT

The lower portion of the brain, the eventual seat of the subconscious mind, is quickly acted on by all sorts of physical and mental stimuli. The structure of the brain and the controlling forces are gradually developed from below upward. The upper brain comes gradually into play as a result of stimuli and education, and the functions of the mind begin to un-fold. The importance of proper education is stressed by the fact that the early impressions of the young are never entirely forgotten. The women’s colleges are increasing in number and importance and have set the educational pace, as in the case with the men’s colleges. The growth of forced and so-called higher education has been relatively more rapid with girls than with boys. Some reorganization of modern education at all ages, but especially in the early years, is much to be desired, and educators should face this problem.
