ABSTRACT
Those who believe in original sin base their doctrine on the allegorical story of the Garden of Eden, where they find in man's first disobedience of a divine prohibition the origin of those "sinful lusts of the flesh" which they attribute to all the descendants of Adam. Morality has played a necessary part in the evolution of civilization. It was instituted as the best-known means of controlling and directing primitive instincts that had outlived their environment. The whole object of education should be to foster the creative activities of the child. Creation is the genesis of all interest, the basis of every voluntary action in life. But creation must not be considered only in the material sense; intellectual creation is more important to interest than manual creation. Children in the new Garden of Eden would be allowed to grow up instead of being brought up.
