ABSTRACT

C. Hartwig Szczecin is one of the longest established international forwarding companies in Poland centred on the region of Western Pomerania – i.e. around the Szczecin area. Its role is one of the traditional freight forwarding company providing facilities for the movement of a large variety of cargoes from bulk loads to small consolidations and with a speciality in heavy lift transport. With the return of Szczecin in 1945 to Poland from German occupation, a new branch was set up in the city with the name of C. Hartwig Szczecin specialising on marine transport but with interests in the land distribution side. The plan is for the existing C. Hartwig Szczecin organisation to be liquidated and a new company – C. Hartwig International Forwarders – created with the notable omission of the Szczecin reference implying a spread of activities and geographical influence.
