ABSTRACT
Polsteam Tankers Limited is a specialist tanker operating company based in Gdynia with associated harbour offices in Gdynia and Gdansk ports. Polsteam Tankers is represented abroad in a large number of countries either through subsidiary organisations of the Polska Zegluga Morska (PZM) group – for example in Luxembourg, Netherlands, USA, UK, Spain and Brazil – or by direct representatives in Italy, Sweden, Tunisia, Germany, Morocco and France. In terms of Polish business law Polsteam Tankers is a private company with all the privileges that that brings in terms of tax payments, workers councils and the exemption from the requirements to consult and gain acceptance of decisions and in terms of company constitution and responsibilities. However, it remains the case that Polsteam Tankers is tightly entrenched within the sphere of PZM and in particular, has very close financial relationships in terms of profit, movement of cash and potentially cross-subsidy.
