ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a model typical of Japanese corporate culture that is the corporate culture of Ohmi Merchants. The Ohmi Merchants are an archetype of Japanese business concern, where many firms today have their origin. The land of Ohmi where a number of merchants sprang out was a gathering of such diminutive lands. Geographically advantaged, people of Ohmi were full of the ethos of freedom. People from different origins came to be merchants there. At first, they started out as a local merchant, doing business deals with industries in Ohmi, and then expanded nation-wide. Ohmi Merchants’ activities across feudal domains, therefore, deserve to be praised in creating and promoting such a nation-wide distribution network and division of work. Ohmi Merchants did not concern themselves with any speculation at all. In Enterprise Logistics, at first, there is the ethos of freedom in Ohmi.
