ABSTRACT

This chapter concludes the book by describing its practical implications for art school teaching. Art schools currently face significant challenges, including pressures on resources, incorporation into universities and rising fees. It examines how the models of teaching discussed in previous chapters can be safeguarded and how they can be developed so they can fulfil their potential. It also looks at implications for other elements in the curriculum: preparatory teaching such as Foundation years, technical training, including traditionally taught skills in the curriculum, and art theory teaching. Lastly, the chapter examines PhDs in Fine Art, and the implications of this study for that relatively new form of art school training.
