ABSTRACT

The safety function aims at reducing damages and losses caused by aggressive agents. It is a vital complementary function to the mission of the organization. Directing efforts to safety without considering productivity, quality, environmental preservation, and human development is a serious conceptual and strategic flaw. Safety and environmental preservation prevent injury to persons and damage to the environment and properties, and increase productivity. Human development promotes the performance of any function. Under the holistic view the human needs interrelate, interact, are interdependent and integrated, forming a whole that one must address systemically, and motivation is a multifaceted variable resulting from complex interactions between basic, safety, association, recognition and self-realization human needs. The performance of the safety function depends on life's value. However, some episodes featured on television networks show that human life is no longer a value.
