ABSTRACT
This chapter will begin by outlining the context within which crisis services are evaluated. It will describe how the literature suggests effectiveness of services should be measured. A description of frequently cited research studies is included to form a base from which to critique methods of evaluation used so far. Finally, the authors suggest how research can move on to take more account of the expressed needs of mental health service users.
