ABSTRACT
The ISO activity on database standardisation has been assigned to one of the largest technical subcommittees, namely ISO/IEC JTC1, which has the all embracing title of “Information Systems.” It has many sub-committees and the one which has had responsibility for database standards since 1984 is SC21 which has the title “Information Retrieval, Transfer and Management for OSI”.
