ABSTRACT
Fact-checking before publication is a fixed routine and duty in some countries and journalism cultures, while not integrated in others. Though many of the tasks, challenges and methods are similar, fact-checking practice is intrinsically linked to national context and there are different traditions that must be accommodated. Legal practice in different jurisdictions clearly affects fact-checking, including consideration of the role of team members in the country with the weakest protection of freedom of expression.
