ABSTRACT
The place of script theory is examined and expanded from the perspective of contemporary developmental research and theory. Each major script theorist is reviewed and critiqued. Script, as a comprehensive theory presented in most of the TA literature, is found to be overly reductionist and insufficiently attentive to the formative factors in healthy development. This chapter is one of the three papers for which the Eric Berne Memorial Award was granted.
