ABSTRACT
The Smart building enhancement benefits will vary across each user group, building type and industry sector. Desk monitoring and occupancy systems provide facility managers and building owners with real time floor and desk utilization data. Systems can use Bluetooth low energy technology to track people’s movements by facilitating wireless communication between luminaires within a lighting control system and moveable objects, e.g. security passes. The system can be integrated to the CCTV monitoring system and could activate a cause and effect process and commence recording of CCTV images, alerting security that tailgating has taken place. A structured cabling grid system is installed at a high level to facilitate connection of Power over Ethernet enabled devices including lighting. Lighting arrays also connect to other integrated sensors, including environmental, occupancy and footfall enabling clients to identify where tangible business and colleague wellbeing benefits can be delivered.
