ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the author describes her training experience within the psychiatric inpatient setting through case vignettes of patients she worked with during her graduate training and internship, and which she found as essential and central to her development as a clinical psychologist. The chapter attempts to bring to life some of the intense emotional experiences of working in an inpatient unit and the common struggles trainees encounter as part of the process of learning and growth within this setting.
