ABSTRACT
In this chapter, each component of micro electric discharge machining (EDM) and their functions are extensively discussed. This chapter reveals the level of sophistication required in micro EDM machine tool as compared to conventional EDM machines. Advanced servo control strategies for gap state control in micro EDM is discussed extensively. New tool materials, workpiece materials, and dielectric fluids used in micro EDM are introduced with their predominant characteristics. This chapter gives a clear idea about the current research trends in the development of technologies in micro EDM subsystems.
