ABSTRACT
The Local Offer, as defined by the Children and Families Act 2014, is explained and the duties of local authorities discussed. Typical services usually available from LAs are briefly described, as are those from Health and Social Services. Help that can be given by voluntary disability charities is mentioned, with a Source List that gives website addresses for major charities. The SENCO’s role in developing relationships with outside services and agencies is explored, and the SENCo’s importance in supporting good relationships between these services and parents is emphasised, particularly in the light of pupils’ Education, Health and Care Plans. This chapter relates closely to the themes of Chapters 8 and 9.
