ABSTRACT

The senior leadership has created a sense of urgency, identified a guiding coalition, and developed a change vision to drive change, the focus turns to additive manufacturing (AM) adoption by empowering broad-based action. All enterprise resource planning systems an organization uses must be adapted for AM. Electronic planning systems, routers, quality documentation, purchasing, receiving forms; basically, all digital and paper forms that are necessary to manufacture a certified product must be changed. Resistance occurs at every level of the organization. Leading and implementing change requires working with individuals and bringing them along. Senior leadership and the guiding coalition must have people skills. Reward systems must be designed to promote the use of AM within the organization. Empowering change efforts within the organization is critical for AM adoption. Failure to empower employees and managers can lead to stalled efforts at the beginning of implementation.
