Minute from Mr Wetherell (Warsaw) to Mr Barrett (Warsaw) 9 March 1989

1. Ms Leslie-Jones and I visited Gdansk from 5–7 March, and had an excellent programme, whose highlight was the dinner with Lech Walesa at Father Jankowski’s, and which included calls on Bishop Goclowski, Alexander Hall, Andrzej Gwiazda, the Voivod (Jerzy Jedykiewicz) and the Voivodship PZPR Economic Secretary (Bogdan Daszkiewicz).
