ABSTRACT

Sustainable development in the manufacturing can be achieved by imbibing sustainability starting in the procurement activities. However, the drivers of sustainable procurement and its interrelationships have not been thoroughly investigated in the existing literature. Thus, this chapter attempts to examine the common drivers identified through literature review and opinion from the subject expert. The initial relationship matrix was developed by collecting the inputs from 15 experts through a face-to-face interview. DEMATEL approach is applied for the average of the initial relationship matrix collected from the experts. By applying the DEMATEL approach, the skillful policymaking is identified as the significant drivers and stakeholder encouragement as the least significant drivers. This study will help the practicing managers to identify the important driver for better adoption of sustainability concepts in procurement.
