ABSTRACT

Often the biggest impact to reducing costs come to us from areas outside our organizations. This is a big reason why companies hire consultants to help them get organized, eliminate waste, increase throughput and/or quality, improve on safety, train supervisors and leaders, and point out ways to reduce overall cost to the bottom line. In this chapter, we will discover just how beneficial utilizing outside free services can be to reduce overall costs in manufacturing through the use of the existing vendors we purchase outside products and equipment from; through free management help from retired executives; from attending trade shows; and from other industry managers – non-competitive.
