ABSTRACT

Every activity performed to generate profit should be measured and compared to a standard, and assigned to an individual for accountability.

Accountability can produce both positive and negative effects depending on how the measurement of the activity is perceived, how it compares to other similar activities measured or not measured, and how the accountability to the measurement is delivered. If the measuring standards are accurate, and everyone is held to the same standard, accountability will help your team recognize the issues, generate the solutions, and own the results for helping your plant reduce operational costs. The old adage of “two heads are better than one” will produce results exponentially when all of your team members are involved, and accountability is consistent and fair.
