Reward is the prize we get for positive results above expectations, and should be used in business to promote additional positive behavior and results that reduce cost.

There are several types of reward that can be used to motivate employees to perform above expectations. Some of these rewards will motivate short term, and some have lasting effects for life. Some reward systems are long term, and require continual attention such as a bonus program for exceeding required expectations.

It is important to understand what motivates the person you are trying to recognize when giving a reward since reward can mean different things to different people, and the effect you are trying to achieve might not be what you end up with.
