ABSTRACT

A disorganized or unclean working atmosphere is at best a hindrance to efficiencies, and almost always one of the root causes of quality, efficiency, and safety issues. There are several reasons for practicing clean work habits and keeping a plant clean. 1. It will make a statement to our employees that we actually care about the facility and the work that we perform, which will in turn help to instill in them a sense of pride in the company they work for, and the work they do. 2. It will make a statement to our boss/owner that we are responsible and actually care about the facility, the people working in it, and the quality of our product. 3. Employees will spend less time looking for tools and supplies to get their function completed, which in turn will keep them at their work center longer and allow them to complete more work. 4. When tools and supplies are located in the appropriate place that makes it the most beneficial for completing a task, there are fewer “lost time” accidents.
