ABSTRACT

In a Swiss Collaboratory where industry experts met to jointly assess opportunity for a coalition in the area of food waste, an interesting clash of characters occurred. During an early explorative discussion in smaller groups, an activist challenged him to prefer a certain way of solving the problem while ignoring some serious negative consequences. In a Collaboratory in a medium-sized city in Europe the city council had invited a number of large, medium, and small organizations to get together around how to bring a Common Good movement as part of upcoming city celebrations. Robert Quinn calls the integration of such competing strength a “creative state,” and her. Appreciation is about the ability to integrate the value of being Critical, with the value of being Positive and encouraging. In many ways, the strength polarities offer pathways to integrate the overarching strength polarity for individuals to become partners by providing Genuine Engagement.
