Construction contracting is very similar to purchasing with respect to the techniques, concepts, and procedure followed, especially in preparing list of bidders, inquiry packages as well as bid collections, openings, evaluations, and awarding the contracts. Construction strategy is the major plan for setting out how to carry out the construction works of the project. Contracting procedure is very similar to the procurement procedure. Contractors list is prepared in compliance with the construction strategy so that a list of prospective bidders is made ready for each different inquiry planned. Contract administration mainly consists of the administration and follow-up of the awarded construction contracts at the jobsite. As in purchasing, the first step in bid evaluation is normally to have the preliminary bid tabulation completed through a systematic review of the bids as received. The subcontract administrator deals with the contractual aspects by receiving support from the construction supervisors of his/her team for the technical and performance aspects of the issues.
