ABSTRACT

In project-type operations, project manager (PM) is the principal leader of all other leaders in the project team. For process plant projects, almost all of the entities taking part in the project, like engineering contractors, owners, and construction contractors establish a kind of project management organization. Project organizations are established by assignments from all the necessary disciplines and functions required to be in the project. Based on the size and particular needs of the project, these key positions are filled in sometimes by lead engineers or sometimes coordinators or managers to whom a number of other staff assigned to the project reports. The matrix scheme is composed of columns and rows, where each column represents every single project in a multi-project running environment. A PM is assigned from the pool of PMs by the relevant divisional director when a new project starts.
