ABSTRACT

This chapter examines public pedagogy against capitalism and for socialism. It begins with a discussion of some socialistic movements that are prominent in the United States (US), including Our Revolution; the Democratic Socialists of America; and the Poor People's Campaign. The chapter outlines some of the key socialistic groupings in the US today. In patriarchal societies, women's movements are always crucial. They take on added significance, given the sexism, anti-feminism and misogyny displayed and enacted by both Donald J. Trump and the alt-right, as detailed. The Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), 'comprised of leaders and activists, workers and students, of all backgrounds' is organized in branches across the US, bringing together a 'new generation of revolutionaries alongside veterans of the people's movements with decades of experience'. The chapter examines a number of movements, groupings, and parties for progressive economic, political, and social reform and revolution.
