Economic cooperation and infrastructure linkage between Malaysia and China under the Belt and Road Initiative

China’s Belt and Road Initiative has been an important factor in the significant increase of China’s economic presence in Malaysia in the past few years. This chapter will introduce China’s participation in several major infrastructure projects and some cultural ones in Malaysia, primarily Peninsular Malaysia, in relation to the BRI. This chapter intends to highlights in detail the origins, timeframes, the actors involved, and the likely impact of these projects.
