“Light will be thrown”

According to a tenacious interpretation, propped up by Darwin himself, all he does in the Origin is to indicate that, thanks to his theory of natural selection, “light will be thrown on the origin of man and his history”. But Darwin’s account is contested and many have been increasingly vocal in asserting that “the origin of mankind” is, in actual fact, present throughout and weaved into the Origin, notably on the issue of sexual selection.
