ABSTRACT

Steroid injections into the hip joint are no longer commonly performed. The procedure is more complicated than for other intra-articular injections, and it is not advisable for general practitioners to undertake such injections. Moreover, the management of osteoarthritis of the hip joint has radically changed in the last few years due to the success of hip replacement operations and the marked improvement of the hip prostheses that are now fitted. However, there are several conditions that are easily treated in the practice.
